‘KRS’ stands for
‘KEDRON RECOVERY STUB’® SUSPENSION.

KRS has been uniquely designed, innovated, registered and built, by Kedron, for Kedron Owners!

After years of developments, a focus was on what could be implemented into a suspension system that would not only benefit the remote traveller with a more stable and softer tow, but also give the ability to get out of unexpected situations much quicker than previous systems had offered!

To date, say a bearing failed with subsequent damage to the stub-axle, a remote traveller would be stuck for generally weeks while getting a complete swing-arm built and sent, then after collecting from the nearest town / parcel drop, would have to then travel back to remove and refit a whole swing-arm, following also requiring a wheel alignment…..a lengthy, heavy and extensive job….

Not with the new KRS….

Most-all suspension systems commonly fitted these days have ‘weld-on’ stub axles, this not only can create a weak-point, though renders the whole arm to be replaced following unexpected stub-axle damage.

With the Kedron unique KRS, in the very unlikely event this happens….
a ‘RECOVERY STUB’® is STANDARD in your TE’5!

Along with this, the 'TOPENDER'® recovery kit includes spare bearings
& Air-Bag Standard!

To get back on the track with KRS, just the stub-axle itself has to be replaced, and you’re back on the road in a matter of ‘Hours not Weeks'!

HOW DOES KRS TOW?

Another major bonus of the new KRS is the HUGE amount of ground clearance!

Other sytems have arms that hang well down and not only have the risk of being damaged and hung up off-road more, but also when travelling through soft sand tracks can act like sand-anchors and heavily increase the chances of being continually bogged.

The KRS design recesses well up into the chassis, barely protruding below the water tanks and has the maximum amount of clearance!

The shocks are also at a more vertical pitch for much better performance!

The stabilty of tow is another major benefit, there is an easily accessible lockable recess that allows the van to be lowered for travelling on bitumen, dropping the centre of gravity and allowing for a much more stable tow (especially beneficial when passing trucks or with strong cross winds), then prior heading off-road, simply raise the van for maximum clearance at the touch of a button!

This feature is also handy when camping on an off-level site, adjust either side of the van for levelling! Can also swing the drop leg stabilisers down and lower the whole van down to steady on them and have it much easier to get in and out of the van when camped!

WHAT’S SOME OTHER MAJOR KRS BENEFITS?

The removable stubs also make changing the offsets to suit your tow-vehicle upgrades much more cost effective as well, by only requiring to replace your stubs, not the entire swing-arm assemblies.

Say you change from an LC70 to LC200, then the 0º offset stubs can be replaced for +60
º to suit, and be able to maintain the same offset wheels on the tow-vehicle and van for being to able to interchange in an emergency situation also.

HOW WAS KRS TESTED?

Been field testing with the prototypes for quite some time, and towed 1000’s of remote km’s around Australia!

The KRS was under the latest Gall Boys Adventure TopEnder® and was towed through the soft sand tracks of Fraser right to Sandy Cape, Central Queensland, Cape York and across the entire Old Coach / Maytown Track.

GOVERNMENT APPROVED LAB TESTING
From here the KRS Suspension was sent to a Government Approved testing facility in South Australia. This was said to be their first independent caravan suspension they had physically tested, saying previous were a computer simulated test only, and the KRS was put to extreme physical pressures for certification.

A tandem group rating of 4t was the goal, after subsequent tests and wheel removal, with pressures direct to stub, the test was taken to a Massive 15t with no steel deform recorded. KRS has been officially certified to 7t, though to be in line with the air-bags ratings at 1250kg each, nominated 5t on the KRS Tandem!
